Super Easy Summer Skincare Tips

We all love to enjoy glorious summer sunshine by planning outdoor activities, travel and some much required vacation time.
Having fun under the sun is great but the toll it takes on your skin is not! Though we all take a few precautions, here are a few  summer skin care tips that can be useful while tackling summer months.
Adding these easy summer skincare tips to your everyday skin care regimen can ensure that you enjoy a beautiful and healthy summer glow.
Use Appropriate Skincare Products
One easy mantra to follow during summers- less is more. The hot and sweaty summer days call for a light moisturizer for your face and body that does not clog pores and lets your skin breathe.
Don't Forget Sun Protection
Though many of us limit the use of sunscreen to beach holidays, applying sunscreen all year round and especially during summers is a good practice. Choose a good broad spectrum sunscreen and apply enough quantity after moisturizing your skin over exposed areas. If you are headed to the beach, reapply every couple of hours or after enjoying a swim or water activities.

Treat Sunburns
Over exposure to sunrays can cause red, irritated and sunburned skin. Keep a good quality aloe vera gel handy in your vanity case or harvest fresh gel from an aloe plant and apply on exposed areas. Keep a soothing facial spray of hydrating rosewater (try our rosewater hydrosol) in your bag and spritz face periodically to soothe facial skin. Additionally, indulge in some cool showers and wear loose clothing for extra comfort. If redness/itching continues do visit your dermatologist immediately.
Use Simple Remedies to De-tan
An uneven and stubborn sun tan is a no no. Use simple remedies with ingredients from your kitchen like yoghurt, cucumber, tomatoes, lemons, milk, turmeric, honey, avocadoes, gram flour, rose water and more to remove the tan. Here is a simple recipe from us to take care of that tan:
Take Rooted Majestic Mineral Mask and add enough yogurt and honey and mix well. Apply all over face and neck area and keep for 15 minutes. Wash off with tepid water and pat dry.
Take Care of Your Hands & Feet
Our hands and feet need extra attention too during summers as we often choose open footwear. Hot weather and humidity can cause many issues- smelly feet, darker hands & feet and dry cracked heels. Add 1-2 tbsp pink Himalayan salt to warm water and soak your tired hands and feet to soothe.
Here is an easy remedy for softer hands:
Milk + honey + oats scrub: Take 2-3 tbsp of warm milk. Soak 1 tbsp of oats in it for 15 minutes and then put this in the grinder and make a coarse paste. Remove the paste in a bowl and add 2 tsps of honey in the mix. Apply this paste on hands and massage for 10 mins.

Fairer Feet:
Make a pack of one tomato + aloe vera gel + dash of lemon juice and pulp of one medium cucumber. Make a fine paste of all the ingredients and apply on the feet for 30 minutes. Then, massage the feet with the pack on it for 5-7 minutes and wash off.
Don’t Skip Exfoliation
Sweat, dust, grime and pollution during summer days add to a lot of skin problems like acne, breakouts and clogged pores. Exfoliating once a week is a good practice but do not indulge in it if you are going to be exposed to sun rays for a prolonged time. Use a mild exfoliator for your face and body once a week to get rid of dead skin cells, accumulated dirt and grime. P.S. The Moroccan Mud Mask makes for a great exfoliator.

Invest in a Good Toner
Do not forget to use a good toner after your daily C-T-M routine. Toners are great as they quickly penetrate, hydrate and nourish the skin. Also regular application of toners, help remove dirt, oil, and dead cells from the skin’s surface and maintain the pH balance of the skin. Read our earlier blog on toners for an easy beauty diy. A simple Rose Water Hydrosol makes a great summer addition to your skin care routine.
Avoid Heavy Foods
Heavy foods, when consumed during summers tend to make us feel sluggish. Seasonal foods like watermelon, cucumbers, coconut water, mint, melons are more preferable to keep heat at bay. Choose healthy beverages like coconut water, buttermilk, lassi over sugar loaded beverages. Eat good to feel good!
